Carpentry and joinery

Carpentry and joinery construction students at the college can look forward to a range of opportunities including taking part in regional and national skills competitions, team and solo projects designed to test your skills and working on projects in addition to your coursework – including the West Notts Woodworms.

Courses available at the college range from Level 1 to Level 3. Progression opportunities include further study, apprenticeships and employment.

As a carpentry student you’ll need to be accurate and work to strict measurements to produce quality products.

Carpenters work on practical projects to get them ready for the world of work.

Carpenters and joiners specialise in creating items from wood. You could find yourself working in modern housing, or learning specialist skills in restoration.

Carpentry and joinery workers will need to be accurate when working to ensure projects are completed.

As a carpentry and joinery student at West Notts, you’ll practise your skills at our Construction Centre where there’s space to learn the specialist techniques needed in this industry. Tutors will be on hand to guide you and encourage creative development.

Once qualified, your skills will be in high demand, and could potentially take you all over the world. With the right experience under your belt, you could even start your own business and become self-employed.
