Hairdressing students at the college can look forward to a range of opportunities including the chance to showcase their skills at various regional and national skills shows, work experience in the college’s hair and beauty salon and spa, Revive. You’ll also regularly listen to industry talks from professionals.
Courses available at the college range from Entry Level to Level 3. Progression opportunities include further study, apprenticeships and employment.
Francesco Group is one of the largest, award-winning hairdressing companies in the UK. The college’s salon is sponsored by Francesco Group, and the team at Revive works closely with representatives of the group to provide industry-standard training methods and mentoring – to ensure students leave salon-ready.
As a hairdresser, you’ll learn a variety of skills, from basic washing and drying, to innovative cutting, colouring and styling techniques.
Hair styling is often led by fashion. As trends can change with the seasons, you’ll need an eye for detail and an interest in fashion to help make sure you stay ahead of the game.
Potential job roles include hairdresser, hair stylist, barber, colourist, salon manager, or work on reception.
With the right qualifications and techniques behind you, you’ll move straight onto the salon floor; building up your client base to perhaps one day own your own business!
You may choose to be self-employed and ‘rent a chair’ in an established salon.
And you’re not just restricted to working in a salon. As a hairdresser or barber, your skills travel with you, giving you the opportunity to work all over the world. Hairdressers are also required in hotels, hospitals, in fashion, and for work on TV, film and theatre.
At West Notts our trainee hairdressers learn in our commercial salon Revive. You’ll work with industry-standard equipment and the latest products to build up your practical skills, gain experience in customer service and get ready for employment.
