Motor vehicle students at the college can look forward to a range of opportunities including testing their skills on a number of real projects across various vehicles, access to the latest equipment and technology used in industry and working with tutors who’ve been there, seen it and done it.
Courses available at the college range from Level 1 to Level 3. Progression opportunities include further study, apprenticeships and employment.
The automotive industry is wide and diverse. You could find yourself working at a local garage, in motorsports, or even in the armed forces. You could even choose to move into sales and retail – selling parts or cars to trade and the public.
To work in the motor industry, you’ll need to have a good knowledge of the subject, and be willing to get your hands dirty. You’ll need to think practically to get jobs done, and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
As technologies advance and change, you will too. You’ll need to keep ahead of the competition and ensure you have a good understanding of new regulations and practises relating to motors.
Motor vehicle students at West Notts study at the newly-built Engineering Innovation Centre, which is spacious enough for students to work on practical projects – on a number of car makes and models. Tutors with industry experience will assist you with the right equipment and technologies, to ensure you’re working at a safe level - whilst still gaining those all-important skills.
Following your course, you could choose to go into further study (university-level), start an apprenticeship or move into employment.
